Mumbai is where the Hindi film industry is made. Film City at Goregaon East, established in 1977 by the Maharashtra government across about 520 acres, is the formal centre of it, but the working industry is spread through the suburbs — production offices in Andheri and Juhu, post houses in Malad and Goregaon, studios scattered between them.
